Off the Easel
My latest creation:

These industrious adventurers never met, yet understand each other in ways no one else can. The yearning to see what no one else has. So much planning and commitment. An all-consuming itch, finally being scratched. Dreams become real—including perfect unplanned moments like these.
Drawing from my own world travels and engineering past—I hope it speaks to your own wanderlust and reminds you: someone out there believes your dreams are worth chasing.
Bonus detail: The central character is a black-footed ferret—a North American native once thought to be extinct. These cuties are making a comeback thanks to conservation efforts in the US and Canada as seen in this video by Colorado Parks.
In Other News…
I’m thrilled to share The Philosopher won an award last month at the Open Visions Exhibition at the Fame Frame Gallery!

Starting in December, 16”x20” limited editions prints will be available—perfect for those who need a reminder not to take life too seriously.
Have a fantastic Thanksgiving! I’ll be traveling in Oregon and bring back some new Critters to share.

- More from the Wild
Call of the Wild
Thanks to everyone who came to the Call of the Wild Exhibition at Ashton Gallery! It was great to see familiar faces and make some new friends.

I’m so honored to have Salmaki’s Secret Waterfall selected to be shown—this piece is very special to me. Layered with meaning around belonging, identity, and emotional connection to nature, it’s a piece that invites quiet reflection. I’m grateful to those who’ve taken the time to sit with it and see what’s beneath the surface.
Going On & Coming Up
Come see me September 20th/21st at ArtWalk Carlsbad. I’m busy now preparing to replace all the art going out to galleries 🤣
You can find me in KBM Gallery’s Magnificent Landscapes Exhibition going on through October 3rd, and Exhibizone’s Scenic Exhibition starting September 27th.
Behind the Scenes
My latest pastel:

Making this has been on my list for quite a while. There is magic in the desert—especially in its unpolluted view of the sky. It’s surprising how much color our universe has! Our night sky has inspired endless creativity and sciency dreams for millennia. Official post yet to come with story included! Let me know what you might want to see in the sky in a larger acrylic.
And lastly, here’s a new Critter tale for yall!

Time loves to dance. Music fills him with so much energy and emotion—he has to twirl and prance to get it out. Ballerinas are the most graceful, and he wants to be just like them. He even made his own tutu.
Location: Juaquapin Creek, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, California
Back to the easel! See you in Carlsbad on the 20th/21st!

Thanks for All the Support!
Big thanks to everyone who came to the 33rd Annual Juried Exhibition at Athenaeum Music & Arts Library and ArtWalk Liberty Station! Both were terrific events.
Special thanks to Tom for buying the original Bath Time for Baby Kraken!

It’s a classic to be sure—I’m excited to continue the kraken series!
What’s Going On / What’s Coming Up
Come see me August 24 at Leucadia ArtWalk. It should be a fantastic event! I’ll have a couple new works on hand—and I love seeing faces I recognize!I have pieces in three upcoming gallery shows—including two of my Critter pics! Tortoise Excited for Chaura Berries is in Gallerium Unreal 2025 Exhibition (August 20), The Wandering Timetraveler is in Exhibizone It’s Time 2025 Exhibition (August 23), and The Philosopher is in Gallerium Precious 2025 Exhibition (August 27). I am so excited to have my photography honored! It’s only because of the feedback from fans like you that these are being shared with the wider public.

Behind the Scenes
Just completed today:
This one is an acrylic reimagining of the original pastel The Gargolope—a surprise fan favorite. The background is inspired by the tectonic folds of the Andes in Patagonia—specifically Fitz Roy in Los Glaciares National Park, where I had an epic trek subsisting on nothing more than honeysuckle and chaura berries (yeah, the ones from the tortoise pic). Nature has a dark side, but it gives more than it takes.
So much going on! I hope to see you in Encinitas on the 24th!

A little in-progress peek at what’s on my easel today. This one will be a tale about the love of exploration and adventure. I can’t wait to share the finished piece!
And here’s a Critter I made in Mount Laguna:

Abuela Needs Her Coffeeberries—Why are the ripest fruits always out of reach?
Yes—these little berries are entirely edible and just starting to come into season now! Named for their seeds that look like little coffee beans. An enjoyable trail snack if you can identify them.
